Sports Screening

Here at CMK Therapy, we are not only concerned with treating injured sports competitors, but also carrying out preventative screening and conditioning of fit and healthy players to ensure optimal fitness levels. Screenings are an important part of preparing individuals for their particular sport.

Sports screening involves musculoskeletal screening looking at range of joint movement, muscle imbalance and muscle length. It also involves biomechanical assessments and the screening of functional movements which looks at the way we move in certain sport specific situations, allowing us to identify any areas of muscle imbalance or weakness in the individual.

Spotting potential problems early can enable them to be treated quickly before injury occurs. We offer strength and conditioning advice and training that can focus on specific muscles or areas of the body, helping to limit the risk of problems later. The aim of the screening is to optimise health levels of sporting individuals.

Screening is especially useful for youngsters, whose bodies are still growing. The screening helps to establish how the muscles and bones are developing and can identify any areas of weakness. Carrying out the medicals has proven to be invaluable in identifying potential injuries and preventing them before they occur.

Our involvement with professional sport has shown that screening of any of the above types has been very beneficial in the early identification of health concerns and changes in a player’s fitness or strength levels.
